After the Garden Project class, where we presented our reports on Animals, Infrastructure, and the Water System and received a fun visit from Professor David Silver who helped us create this blog, Melinda Stone, Mark Thoma, and a few of the girls frolicked over to the Garden to pick apples.

Apples? Yes, ladies and gentlemen. Apples.

After collecting a suitable amount of apples, which they stuffed into the cute little green compost buckets, they hauled them over to Fromm’s Industrial Kitchen. (If any of you would like to cook with us sometime, let us know!)

This small group of lovely personalities were about to make spectacular apple products, including apple sauce and apple jelly.

Even though the apples were organic, they all had to be washed. Next, came the peeling, which was done in the gorgeous green lawn in front of the library. The apples were cut in fours and put in a big pot of boiling water. The jars and their caps also had to be boiled, in order for them to be sterilized.

Once the boiling was done, it was shortly followed by the smooshing process. Weee! Use to your imagination~~~

When all the hard work was finished, the apple jelly and sauce were deposited in their containers. We hope to distribute the apple jelly to Father Privett and other enthusiastic people hoping to help our garden. 😉 So if you would like to sample this delicious apple jelly, please let us know by leaving a comment, emailing us at usfgardenproject@gmail.com, or calling us at 1800Garden. Just kidding – at least about the last part.

Thank you for reading this and look forward to more amazing events from the Garden Project! Woooooot!

So here’s our first post. We are actually creating it at this very moment! I’m not supposed to be writing this without everyone else’s permission, but they can just delete it when they want to. I’m excited for our garden and I hope our blog will flourish just as much as our lovely garden.

welcome to our garden
